Sango Kaku Japanese Maple also known as Coral Bark Maple is known for its striking red bark in the fall and winter. The leaves are mostly green with reddish and pinkish tinges when unfolding, becoming medium green in summer. Sango Kaku is a very attracrtive small to medium size tree especially in early September when fall is approaching.
ADONIS BLUE™ has deep blue flowers of good size and with a delightful fragrance. You will find that Adonis Blue has a more horizontal form, tending to be wider than it is all. A great blue color for September.
'White Ball' - A New Dwarf Butterfly Bush ideal for the smaller garden.
Buddleia 'White Ball' is a dwarf butterfly bush that can best be described as cute! The bright silver-grey foliage grows into a tight ball, only 3 feet tall and wide, half to one-third normal size. This bush will not overcrowd your landscape. Spikes of white flowers surround 'White Ball' all summer - attracting butterflies. 'White Ball' is the long lasting and prolific blooming butterfly plant. If you remove the faded blooms, 'White Ball' will blossom continuously from June right up to killing frost. A great plant for September gardens. With its silvery foliage and pure white fragrant blooms, this new hybrid is a particularly nice addition to your garden. Butterfly Bushes are usually relegated to the border background because of their fast growth and height, now you can enjoy this handsome butterfly bush in the foreground of your garden.
Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best flowering in full sun. Prefers moist, organically rich soils which drain well. Evergreen in the South, but generally deciduous in the Philadelphia area where stems may suffer substantial damage (including dying to the ground) in cold winters. Significant stem damage can be expected when winter temperatures approach zero degrees F. Best sited in a protected location in the Northeastern States area. Blooms on new wood, so prune as needed (e.g., thin to the ground up to 1/3 of old stems and any stems lost to winter) in late winter to early spring. This plant has great color up into September.
A dwarf, densely branched form displaying deep crimson colored foliage all season long, best in full sun. Excellent for borders or small hedges. Deciduous. Full sun. A slow grower to 2 feet tall, 3 feet wide. A great plant for September color.
The Knock Out® Roses takes the maintenance out of roses. Hardy, drought tolerant upon establishment, this rose is a carefree, easy to grow, rose.
Paniculata hydrangeas will grow and bloom in a wide variety of climates (hardy to Zone 3!). Unlike mopheads, they need several hours of sun to do well.
If your weather is too cold to support the pink and blue hydrangeas or if your landscape doesn't have much shade, consider growing one of the many types of paniculatas. North or south, we can all enjoy them.
Another desirable trait of all paniculatas is their tolerance for pruning. One can prune them at any time except when they begin forming bloom heads in the summer.
